Abstract

Vocabulary mastery remains a persistent challenge in Arabic language learning at religious higher education institutions, particularly in helping students understand word meanings contextually and apply them effectively in communication. This study aims to examine the application of meaning theory in Arabic vocabulary teaching strategies. The research adopts a qualitative library research approach by reviewing relevant books and scholarly journal articles related to meaning theory and vocabulary learning. Data are analyzed descriptively and analytically to identify the relevance and potential contributions of meaning theory to vocabulary instruction. The findings indicate that applying meaning theory in Arabic language learning helps students more easily find and memorize vocabulary, connect words meaningfully in sentence construction, and generate ideas for discussion topics. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Arabic vocabulary learning strategies based on meaning theory and semantic approaches, thereby enhancing students’ linguistic competence in a more contextual and meaningful way.
